We recently released our SaaS Summer Reading List laying out some of our favorite posts of the year so far, but we realize many people are on the go and may have a tough time sitting down and reading them. For that reason, we’ve put together a collection of some of CodeScience’s favorite podcasts from our AppChat podcast to date so that you can listen to them while you’re on the move.

So plug-in and tune everything else out — here’s what you should be listening to during your busy summer.

From Bootstrapping to Booming: Lessons on Scaling Through VC Funding with Tom Martin of Glance Networks

Tom Martin, CEO of Glance Networks, sits down with CodeScience CEO, Brian Walsh, to discuss his experience bootstrapping his business for 16+ years and how debt financing, as well as venture-capital funding, changed Glance Networks’ approach to scaling.

Why it made our list

Martin had a unique journey with his company in that Glance Networks was backed by a VC firm after already being in business for 17 years. He tells stories of transformation — from Glance Networks’ early years bootstrapping and driving around at night looking for office furniture on the side of the street to receiving funding and its impact on growth and company culture. If you’re bootstrapping and looking to finance in the future, this is a must listen.

Adjusting Scrum Methodology to Meet Aggressive Scaling with Dory Weiss of nCino

nCino’s VP of Engineering, Dory Weiss, joins the podcast to talk about embracing the Large Scale Scrum (LeSS) methodology in developing cloud-banking products on the Salesforce platform. She also explores the topics of maintaining company values amid growth and “pollinating” ideas across teams.

Weiss’ early years were spent pursuing a PhD in English before she left graduate school and entered into a software developer training program. She discusses the similarities between coding and English, along with how the way of thinking in the two fields are alike. Weiss also details nCino’s move from agile to LeSS methodologies and dividing teams while prioritizing the right work to get done for clients.
